Tap 2 Distract

What is Tap 2 Distract?

A practical digital resource for those moments when you need something to focus on.

Tap 2 Distract was developed by TLC for Kids, drawing on more than 28 years of experience providing distraction support to children and families during stressful medical moments.

Originally developed to help children manage needle phobia, anxiety and distress, Tap 2 Distract has evolved into a resource for people of all ages. It brings together guided breathing, calming, distraction and interactive activities that can be accessed in seconds.

Individuals can download Tap 2 Distract directly to their own device, with no workplace installation or information technology rollout required.

Where it fits

Something practical between “I’m feeling overwhelmed” and whatever comes next.

Many workplaces already have Employee Assistance Programs, wellbeing programs and professional supports in place. Tap 2 Distract sits alongside them as an immediate resource people can access during everyday moments of stress, anxiety or overwhelm, helping bridge the space between recognising how they feel and deciding what comes next.

Tap 2 Distract does not replace professional support. It provides something practical before, between and alongside it.

FAQ: Workplace Wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programs

What is an Employee Assistance Program?

An Employee Assistance Program is a workplace service that can provide employees with confidential counselling, information or professional support. Tap 2 Distract does not replace an Employee Assistance Program. It provides an immediate, practical resource that can sit alongside it.

Does Tap 2 Distract replace an Employee Assistance Program?

No. Tap 2 Distract is not counselling or professional support. It provides something practical people can access before, between and alongside existing workplace wellbeing and professional support services.

We already have an Employee Assistance Program. Why would we need Tap 2 Distract as well?

Employee Assistance Programs are important, but they are only one part of workplace wellbeing. Tap 2 Distract sits alongside them by giving people something practical they can access immediately, in the space between recognising that they feel stressed, overwhelmed or anxious and deciding what comes next.

What if someone is not ready to contact an Employee Assistance Program or talk to their manager?

That is one of the gaps Tap 2 Distract is designed to help with. It gives someone something immediate and practical to use while they decide whether they want to speak with someone, contact an Employee Assistance Program, seek professional support or simply continue with their day.

What if our workplace does not have an Employee Assistance Program or formal wellbeing program?

That’s okay. Tap 2 Distract can still be made available as a simple, practical wellbeing resource for your people. It does not require an existing Employee Assistance Program, employee wellbeing platform or formal program to be useful. If your workplace does have other supports in place, Tap 2 Distract can sit alongside them.

FAQ: Workplace Wellbeing Kit

Will this create more work for our Human Resources or People and Culture team?

The Workplace Wellbeing model is designed to be low-touch. There is no new platform to manage, no employee accounts or login required, and no training required simply to make Tap 2 Distract available. TLC for Kids also provides ready-to-use digital assets and communication copy, so your team does not need to build the rollout from scratch.

What does our workplace actually need to do?

Very little. Register your workplace or organisation and TLC for Kids will prepare the Workplace Wellbeing Kit. We then provide a link and QR code so you can add Tap 2 Distract to the places your people already look, such as your Employee Assistance Program or wellbeing page, intranet, staff emails, Microsoft Teams, Slack or workplace screens.

FAQ: Privacy and Registration

Does TLC for Kids identify or track individual employees?

No. Tap 2 Distract is not an employee-monitoring system. TLC for Kids may review aggregated campaign reach, but the system is not designed to identify individual employees or determine who has personally used the resource.

How does referral information work?

If you were introduced to Workplace Wellbeing by an association, chamber, sporting club, employer or another organisation, we may ask who referred you so we can understand which partnerships are helping workplaces discover Tap 2 Distract. This does not identify individual employees or app users.

FAQ: Other Organisations

We are not a traditional workplace. Can we still register?

Yes. Tap 2 Distract can be used across workplaces, healthcare, education, emergency services, councils, associations, sporting clubs, community organisations, travel and other public-facing environments. Register and tell us who you would like to support, and we’ll help identify the most relevant approach.

FAQ: Members, Clubs and Community Organisations

Are your members individuals or representatives of workplaces?

Member organisations can include individual members, representatives of businesses or organisations, or a mix of both. We ask this when you register so we can help identify the most useful Tap 2 Distract pathway for your members.

What if our members represent businesses or organisations?

If your members represent workplaces or organisations, you can introduce them to Tap 2 Distract Workplace Wellbeing. Each interested workplace can then register separately so TLC for Kids can prepare the most relevant Workplace Wellbeing resources for them.

Can sporting clubs use Tap 2 Distract?

Yes. Tap 2 Distract can be made available to players, coaches, volunteers, committee members, staff, parents and the wider club community. The most useful pathway will depend on who you want to support.
